Drum on your lap, play the banjo, play the fiddle, use your hands to make music!

One of my daughters favourite books。 I have it memorized we’ve read it so many times

Mackenzie Guthrie

How would you drum with only a thumb?? That sounds very hard。

this was a good picture book not too many words and well put together for younger children just starting to count and learn colors and shapes

The purpose of the book seems to be teaching younger readers about hands and their component parts。 It does this by using monkeys。 Furthermore the monkeys are playing drums, mostly。 They do engage in some other behaviour, such as shaking hands, but playing drums seems to be a big part of their day。 Personally I found this book to be rather cute。 What kid doesn't like to make noise with a drum or something being used as a drum。 Hence they will immediately be drawn to the story。 The monkees (is th The purpose of the book seems to be teaching younger readers about hands and their component parts。 It does this by using monkeys。 Furthermore the monkeys are playing drums, mostly。 They do engage in some other behaviour, such as shaking hands, but playing drums seems to be a big part of their day。 Personally I found this book to be rather cute。 What kid doesn't like to make noise with a drum or something being used as a drum。 Hence they will immediately be drawn to the story。 The monkees (is that the correct plural form or are my musical tastes showing) are drawn in a humourous way, which merely increases the story's charm。 In conclusion I may not be the book's intended audience but I sure enjoyed it。 。。。more

Picture book classic about monkeys drumming, humming, playing banjos and fiddles and more with fingers and thumbs。 A silly rhyming book!

Mediocre and not pedagogically useful。

This is a great book to read your toddler at night- or anytime! It’s fun and can be read to a tune。

Fun, repetitive, and catchy。 This book will leave you humming and drumming for hours after you read it 10 times in a row。 Really, though, nothings quite beats a classic like "Hands, Hands, Fingers, Thumbs" (1969)。 Sunshine and I enjoyed this book very much。 Enjoy it with us on our Youtube channel Storytime Sunshine。 Here is a direct link: https://youtu。be/pnfeRdueOh8 Fun, repetitive, and catchy。 This book will leave you humming and drumming for hours after you read it 10 times in a row。 Really, though, nothings quite beats a classic like "Hands, Hands, Fingers, Thumbs" (1969)。 Sunshine and I enjoyed this book very much。 Enjoy it with us on our Youtube channel Storytime Sunshine。 Here is a direct link: https://youtu。be/pnfeRdueOh8 。。。more

I feel mislead when I purchased this book as it was in a set from Costco with Dr。 Seuss books so I assumed it was one of his。 I believe it’s published by his company and it’s his style but not his from what I can tell。 It was cute enough, I would recommend for reading to babies and toddlers。 But definitely not a favorite of mine to read to my son。

While I have fond memories of a few books in this Dr。 Seuss inspired easy reader series, there are so many of them I have no recollection of at all, like this one。 Like the others, this was both fun and silly to read aloud as well as using simple, singsong vocabulary that lends itself well to memorization and word recognition。E。 made me laugh reading this one too as he started to help me turn the pages in rough movements until he seemingly had enough and kept closing it altogether。Update: E。 abs While I have fond memories of a few books in this Dr。 Seuss inspired easy reader series, there are so many of them I have no recollection of at all, like this one。 Like the others, this was both fun and silly to read aloud as well as using simple, singsong vocabulary that lends itself well to memorization and word recognition。E。 made me laugh reading this one too as he started to help me turn the pages in rough movements until he seemingly had enough and kept closing it altogether。Update: E。 absolutely loves this book。 It’s the only one he’ll actively turn every page for because he’s so engrossed。 Therefore, I also love this book now。 。。。more

One of the “Bright and Early Board Books”, this is a book about monkey's playing drums。 It may be just me, but the title is bothersome, as the monkey is holding his hands over his head, and there are CLEARLY two thumbs。 The book was copyrighted in 1969, and it shows。 The artwork is cringey and feels VERY dated。 Anyone who is aware of racial depictions and artwork pre-civil rights movement will see the issues。 The children will not see it, but I feel it best to avoid those images to prevent norma One of the “Bright and Early Board Books”, this is a book about monkey's playing drums。 It may be just me, but the title is bothersome, as the monkey is holding his hands over his head, and there are CLEARLY two thumbs。 The book was copyrighted in 1969, and it shows。 The artwork is cringey and feels VERY dated。 Anyone who is aware of racial depictions and artwork pre-civil rights movement will see the issues。 The children will not see it, but I feel it best to avoid those images to prevent normalization。 。。。more

Memorable and musical, but after reading about the overt racism in Suess characters, I'm not sure I'll be able to enjoy his work again。 Memorable and musical, but after reading about the overt racism in Suess characters, I'm not sure I'll be able to enjoy his work again。 。。。more

This book is a great graduation book that has rhyming and repetition to engage the reader/listener and reinforce the words that are being read。 I like how the book also has beats with drums that the reader or listener can drum along to as well。
